Art Exhibit

The Keene Art Association will celebrate a 50th Anniversary in 2008. The Association consists of about 160 members who come from four New England States and most towns in the Monadnock Region. A major activity of the Association is displaying their members work on a year round basis at the Colony Mill in Keene, NH. Most exhibits involve virtually all media and typically run for one month. Some are special theme events such as, "Flowers" , "Barns", or "Autumn". On average about fifty artists participate in the Colony Mill exhibits. Each Spring there is special show that is professionally judged and is open to non members as well as members. Over ninety artists entered work in the most recent Spring event.

Ashuelot River Park just across the street from Colony Mill is the scene of the Art Associations major annual fund raising event. Art in the Park on Labor Day weekend attracts over eighty artists and thousands of buyers and browsers. The proceeds from this event represents a large portion of the Associations Scholarship Fund. Each year one student from Keene High School and one from Monadnock Regional High School, who plan to pursue careers in art, are awarded scholarships. The Association has been giving these awards for many years.

The primary goal of the Keene Art Association is to bring art to the community and region by providing members with as many art exhibit opportunities as possible.
